Warmer Welcomes and Furry Creatures
A week ago I got this email:
Quinn joined the Electronic Communications team within the Office of Communications yesterday. Her principle duties will be Web site design, consulting, and publishing support.
Quinn worked most recently as a marketing advisor and graphic designer for a niche marketing firm. She hails from Michigan and is in the running for the shortest commute to AAMC headquarters.
Please introduce yourself and help welcome her to the AAMC!
I’m sorry. I fell asleep. The AAMC is large enough that I get several of these messages a day, and they are one step away from form emails. But as I read through this one, I came to a quick realization that I sent over to my boss:
Did you send one of these things out for me? Because, well, no one came by to welcome me.
While I was determined to work out my pain with a therapist, and was not really expecting a response, my boss was busy working up a response:
Please welcome Jed from Utah. He is an aspiring real estate mogul but has decided to spend some time as a systems developer in OIR in order to accumulate some capital for his next acquisition. His interests include sky diving, ice sculpture and the breeding of chinchillas. His tastes in literature run toward Somerset Maugham and the folk stories of late 17th century Welsh fisher folk. He enjoys visits to the zoo to watch the elusive okapi.
Oh, how I love those okapi!
