Academia: Time for a rebranding?
So minutes after “publishing” my last post, I found this image. Maybe our first interdisciplinary project should be with some academics in a Marketing department.

Where did you get that? I’d love to read the article that goes along with it…
In particular, I’m curious whether their data actually has appropriate controls set up, or is skewed by the fact that academic blogs, which are more likely to use “academic” in their titles, have a small, technology averse and self-selecting audience.
Put differently, is your post about the “academic blogosphere” going to get less love than your other posts, because of the inclusion of the word academic? Or will it perform as usual, but be offset by another post on some esoteric blog that nobody reads and nobody links to.

Answers:
–The source is Academic Productivity (see link at the bottom of the post).
–Initial indicators suggest that some of my typical crowd (more tech centered) passed right on over it. To quote a co-worker, “It was about academic stuff, so I stopped halfway.”
That said, I think there is a conversation to be had hear, and I am still expecting an answer from you.
